Abstract

Background: Tricuspid insufficiency, also known as tricuspid regurgitation, is a reasonably common disorder caused by anatomical anomalies in any portion of the tricuspid valve mechanism. Modifications to the valve leaflets, annulus, chordae tendineae, or papillary muscles may be required. This activity examines the diagnosis and treatment of tricuspid regurgitation, emphasizing the importance of interprofessional team members working together to deliver well-coordinated care and improve patient outcomes.

Conclusion: The purpose of this review article is to describe the anatomy of the tricuspid valve and how it is affected by insufficiency, to recall the causes of tricuspid insufficiency, to summarise the treatment options for tricuspid insufficiency, and to look at the importance of improving care coordination among interprofessional team members to improve outcomes for patients with tricuspid insufficiency.
